Abstract

This study was carried out to detect the parasitic nematodes
affecting some marine fishes. Fish species collected were 100
Siganus rivulatus, 100 Lutjanus sp, 100 Lethrinus nebulosus, 100
Pagellus acarne, 100 Mulloides flavolineatus, 100 Saurida
undosquamis, 100 Sardinella sp, 100 Restrellgir kanagutra 100
Trachurus indicus and 100 Anthrina sp from Suez Canal water at
Suez Province. There were no pathognomonic signs in infested
fish except abdominal distension, hemorrhagic area on abdomen
and nostril and emaciation. Pm lesions were enlargement and
congestion in Liver, excessive mucus secretion and swelling in
intestine, petecheal hemorrhage on stomach and presence of
nematode on liver and in intestine. The highest prevalence was in
Restrelliger kanagutra (89%), Anthrinidae sp (86%), Saurida
undosquamis (85%), Trachurus indicus (81 %), Siganus rivulatus
(74%), Mulloides flavolineatvs (64%), Pagellus acarne (55%),
Sardinella sp (50%), Lutjanus sp (45%) and Lethrinus nebulosus
(36%). The isolated parasitic nematode (Anisakis simplex,
Anisakis sp, Psudoterranova HB, Hysterothylacium (Fabri, HA
and HB), Contracaecum (Ovales, SP! and SP!I), Raphidascaris
acus, Cucullanus truttae, Eustrongylides sp, Paraquimperia sp,
Cystidicola farions, Procamallanus inopenatus,
Hysterothylacium (reliqueus, bidentatum), Spinitectus inermis
and Paracapillaria gibsoni. Seasonal prevalence, Residual
analysis determination, statistical analysis were also recorded.
