Abstract SUMMARY This longitudinal study was conducted to gain insight into the neurobehavioural functions of workers exposed to lead in Ismailia city. Forty five exposed workers were eligibeled in the study. A similar number of a control group of non-exposed workers was also examined. Information concerning their personal history, occupational history, smoking habit, history of present condition, history of past illness, medications, and family history of chronic disease were obtained from each one using a questionnaire (a copy of it present in the appendix). Clinical chest, heart abdomen, neurological and psychiatric examinations were also done to exclude the diseased workers from the sample. Subjective nervous symptoms for both groups examined through subjecti ve Symptom Questionnaire for lead exposure (a copy is included in the appendix). Another short clinical self rating, psycho-diagnostic scale; Middlesex Hospital Questionnaire, was (a copy of which is included in the appendix).
