Abstract The present investigation was conducted at the Agriculture Experimental Station of Agriculture Research Center, Ministry of Agriculture, Mallawi, Minia Gover— norate to study the effect of some weed control treat— nents on weed growth, productivity and juice quality of sugar cane. The experiment was started in 1982 (plant crop) nd continued till the second ratoon in 1985. The experiment was laid out in a split—split plot lesign with four replicates. Two commercial cultivars, viz. N.Co 310 and G.T. 54-9 were assigned to the main lots, while the sub—plots contained the application ;ime; i.e. pre—or post emergence for plant crops and ither early or late post—emergence for the first and ;econd ratoons. The sub—sub plots consisted of the foil— wing weed control treatments: — Unweeded check; plots left, without weed removal. — Hand hoeing; that were carried out 25, 50 and 75 days from planting date in plant crop and from the irrigation before furrowing in ratoon crops. - Nine herbicide treatments:— a. Asulam/Atrazine (Candex 70) at rates of 1.4, 2.1 and 2.8 kg a.i./fed. |
