Abstract The present research work was under taken at Shandawel Research Station, Oil rops Section, Aiculture Research Center, during the summer seasons of 1995,1996 and 1997. The objective of this investigation was to assess and evaluate eight genotypes of peanut i.e., Giza 5, H7, H9, Int-500, L.262, NC-7, VAC-R92 and L.283 by studing the inheritance of some important characters, i.e. the date to the first ‘flower, maturity date, stem length, number of podsiplant, 1 00-pods weight, 100- seeds weight, shelling percentage, seed yieldlplant, pod yieldJplant and oil petcentage an peanut. The results of these study justi’ the following conclusions A Combinin2 ability :- The results of this study showed that: The mean square due to genotypes were highly significant for all studied traits beside, the validity of the assumptions of the diallel analysis was clearly confirmed. The general and specific combining abilities were highly siiificant for all traits, indicated that additive and non-additive gene action were involved in the inheritance of all flits. Both additive and dominance components were important for all traits except oil percentage in which the dominance played the major role. |
