Abstract
The present experiment was carried out at Shanawee1 Agricultural Research Station and Tabta during 1983 Season and was repeated at Shandaweli, Mallawi and El—Tahreer Research Stations during 984 and 19S5 seasons. The nrLn objectives of this study were to evaluate severa]. cuiLivars and strains of sesame for ac:Jrononhjo traits yield and its compenenets and test their stabii Ety at eight environrnents. In addition to tøst these material to for root— rot ahd jlt disease under artificial infection.
The materials used compoaed of 25 cu1tivars arid itrains of sesame (Sesamum indiourn L.) including three local etilti— vars, three introduced cultivars and 9 promising strains. Randomized complete block desLgn of four replication yas used. Each plot was four rows, 4 m. long and 50 cm. apart. The distance bJ ween hills wfl 20 cm. for the branched, 15 cm. for rarely branched ntL 10 cm for the branchiess types. fter full emergentie the seedlings were singled and the recommended cultural rnctJces for sesame production were adooted throuøhout the qrowjng seasons.
