Abstract
SUMMARY
Two experiments were proformed duirng 1984/1985 and 1985/1986 seasons at Faculty of Agricultural, Assiut University Assiut, Egypt; to evaluate Forty one Egyptian clover ecotypes collected from Upper Egypt and New Valley governorates for yielding ability and some chemical constituents.
The following is a summary of the most important results:
1 — There are a significanti differences among berseem ecotypes for growth parameters, i.e. RGR, WAR and LAR and these results were true at different growth periods during both seasons, but the differences in some periods were not great enough to reach the 5% level of significance.
2 — There are significant variations in forage yield i.e. fresh, dry, and protein yield among the tested accessions in both seasons. While no significant differences between accessions for plant height.
3 — The phenotypic variance overall two seasons were 0.65,
2.46, 0.11, and 0.006 for plant height, fresh, dry, and protein yield, respectively.
4 - The phenotypic coefficient of variability over two seasons were 1.28, 5.84, 7.02 and 7.38% for plant height, seasonal fresh, dry, and protein yield, respectively.
