Abstract

It was reported that the flowering season of pomegranate tree has a long period as well as the period of full bloom extends one month or more. In addition, many factors affect the extending of the flowering period and either complete or incomplete flowers and fruit set. Accordingly, the high percentage of incomplete or complete flowers at any time during the flowering season might be on the expense of those of perfect on incomplete flowers then the tree yield is affective and hence, the problem of alternate bearing, which is clear in Man— falouty cultivar is appeared.
This experiment was carried out over two concective seasons (1989and 1990 years) on Manfalouty pomegranate trees 15 years old grown in the orchard of the Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University, where the soil is clay and well drained with a ater table not less than 2—rneters. The trees were planted at 5x5 meters apart.
Fifty—five Manfalouty trees were chosen according to their bear— ing yield. The selected trees were vigorous uniform in size and their vegetative growth approximately. Regular horticultural practices were applied to all experimental trees.
