Abstract 6. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION The insufficient daily supply of the high quality protein, is one of the nutritional problems facing the Middle East including Egypt. The most promising method for increasing the protein supply is to grow more of those familiar foods that are rich in protein. Cotton seeds and their cakes and meals, constitute another large important group of edible vegetable proteins, containing large amounts of high quality protein. Unfortunately, most of the cottonseed varieties contain glands full of pigments, which are toxic to most mono— gastric animals. Thus, this investigation was carried out in an attempt to assess certain physical and chemical methods for producing degossypolized cottonseed meals.
