Abstract
SUMMARY
Animals involved in the present study were 13, 11 and 11 Rahmani, Ossimi and Awassi ewes respectively. The flock was raised in Flallowi Animal research farm iocated in upper ypt. The experimental work lasted for’ calender year (-from May 1982 t0 May 1983 ) . the first part of the work involved investigating Destrois activity oP the three breeds at different months of the year. The SeCOnd part of work concerning the effect of licht regimen on nestrous activity n-F Ossimi and Awassi ewes was carried nut from July 1983 t0 March 1984. 11 Incidence of oestrus/ewe/year was more frequent in Rehrnani (17.531 .1) than in Ossimi (15.1÷1 .41) and Awassi- gwe (12.1÷1.33). Therefore, Rahmeni ewes cen be bred throughout the year with s1iht drip in February and March. HOWEVer, Ossimi ewes bad sinificaritly (P O•05) higher number of oestruses/ewe in eutunn and summer than in wint1ir end spring t4 .45 . 4.45 , 3.36 and 2.62 respectively].
