Abstract The Mediterranean fruit fly ceratitis capitata (Wied.) (Tephritidae:Diptera) is considered as one of the most important economic pest attacking a wide range of hosts. Citrus, guava, peaches and fly are subjected to severe injury because they allow the major part of the insect’s growth to take place during the seasonal period when favourable environmental conditions for development prevail. The present study was carried out in Sohag Governorate to cover the following concepts 1-Biological studies. 2-Ecological studies. 3—Toxicological studies. Biological studies. 1— Effect of constant temperatures on different stages of C. capitata 1.1. Egg stage 1.1.1. Incubation period. 1— The required time for completion of embryogensis decreased as the temperature increased. The mean of incubation periods were 10.6, 4.1, 2.6, 2.025 and 2.0 days at 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35°C, respectively. 2— The threshold of egg development was found to be 9tC. |
