Abstract
The classical sulphonylurea derivatives like glibenclamide is widely prescribed in non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus as first line therapy for the treatment of those patients whose blood glucose levels are not effectively controlled by diet. Their primary action is to stimulate insulin secretion by sensitizing the pancreatic β-cells to the action of glucose.
