Abstract
This study was carried out on 66 nurses providing care in the
Coronary Care Unit and Intensive Care Unit in Ministry of Health
Hospital and Health Insurance Hospitals in Port-Said city and in
Ismailia University Hospital The aim of this study is assessment of
critical care nurses’ knowledge about the nursing care needed by
patients with coronary artery disease. The data was collected through
a structured questionnaire which consisted of 56 questions related
to the care of patient with coronary artery disease. The results of the
study indicated that years of experience had a positive impact on
nurses’ knowledge related to coronary nursing care. It was also
found that nurses working in the Health Insurance Hospital sector
were the least knowledgeable as regards coronary patients’ care. In
relation to health teaching areas of the patients with coronary
diseases dietary items were well known by nurses ,though patient
instruction related to medication were the least known
