Abstract A good representation of the damper behavior is very important in vehicle dynamics studies. In this work three different passenger car dampers are studied experimentally and theoretically to get an accurate representation of the dampers characteristics Experimental tests for the three dampers have been carried out using a standard damper test machine located at Export and Import Authority The measured non- linear characteristics for the dampers are fitted using different three mathematical functions The best fitting function Is selected and used to study the vehicle ride comfort based on quarter car model. The results of rnde performance of vehicles fitted with non-linear damper characteristics showed that the typical linear and bilinear damper models are inappropriate and gives misleading conclusions for performance. |
