Abstract
The present work investigated the senile changes in the adrenal cortex and compared the effects of stress on the adrenal glands of adult and senile rats. Stress was induced by water deprivation for three successive days or immobilization one hour daily for seven successive days. Immobilization was performed by fixing the fore and hind limbs by Silkoplast - adhesive bandage on a wooden board. At the end of the experiment, the adrenal glands were excised and processed for light microscopic examination and morphometric analysis by image analyzer.
