Abstract This study was carried out to investigate the possibility of using of vegetated fenugreek seeds and /or barley grains on rice straw as a bedding material in growing rabbits diet. A total number of sixty growing new Zealand White (NZW) rabbits at 7- weeks of age (with an average weight 1138 ± 32g) were kept under the same conditions and randomly divided into 6 equal groups, 10 for each in 2 replicates. Rabbits were fed control diet and 5 experimental diets contained hyDROPonically sprouted fenugreek seeds or/ and hyDROPonically sprouted barley grains and their mixtures at different levels(0,7,14,21 and 28%),respectively replacing with clover hay. Sprouted fenugreek seeds and barley grains were vegetated on rice straw as a bedding material for 15- days ,they dried, ground before analyses and replacing clover hay in experimental diets. Parameters studied included growth performance , feed efficiency, digestibility and nutritive values, carcass characteristics , blood parameters, cecal activity and economical efficiency. The results obtained showed that:- 1- The chemical composition of sprouted fenugreek seeds (SF)had higher CP and ash content , and , lower CF content compared with clover hay (CH) .However similar content of NFE and OM were noticed . Sprouted barley gave similar content of CP and lower content of CFand its constituents. 2- The mixture of sprouted barley grains and fenugreek seeds had similar ratio of OM ,CF ,and ash as(CH). |
