Abstract It was recommended to screen for diabetes for early detection of the disease and better glycemic control and to conduct more studies to verify the relation between C. pneumoniae and cognitive function to warrant use of antibiotic as a protective measure against cognitive impairment. Further research is also needed to establish NSAID therapy as standard prophylactic therapy for dementia. More studies were recommended to establish the direct relation between lipid profile and BMI and cognitive function and explore the use of diet as a means of guarding against cognitive impairment in the elderly. Risk factor modification was therefore recommended for avoiding carotid atherosclerosis and cognitive impairment. |
