Abstract

Peanut (Arachia hypogea) is one of the major leguminous crops grown in the world. It is important source of protein for humans and animals. A 2-yr field study was carried out in the Faculty of Agriculture Farm at Ismailia, Suez Canal University, Egypt, during 2006 and 2007 summer seasons. The aim of the current study to identify the peanut varieties (local are Giza-5, and Giza-6, and imported are Gregory and NC-I0) that can best utilize of zinc from it’s sparingly environmental sources, further to study the zinc application rates effects on the yield attributes of the peanut varieties. where it was determine the effects of three zinc rates [0, 13.6, 28 kg Zn. ha’l, soil application] in season 2006, and five zinc rates [0, 6.6, 13.6, 28 kg Zn. ha’!, soil application, and 0.2 kg Zn. ha’! foliar application] in season 2007, on yield, yield components and zinc concentration of peanut seeds. The results indicated that there were significant differences between i peanut varieties of zinc rates studied, The maximum value of seed index was 123.9
g. 100-seed’l (NC-IO with O.O-Zn), of pods yield in was 240.6 g. plane’ and 3.94 ton. ha” (NC-IO with 28.0-Zn), where the maximum seed zinc concentration.
