Abstract

Total number of fifty two (52) clinically diseased Mullet fish ( Mugil capito ) were collected from brackish fish farm in Ismailia Governorate and subjected to clinical, post mortem, bacteriological and histopathological studies. The common clinical signs were darkness of skin, increase in mucous secretion, hemorrhages and congestion in gill cover, anal opening, mouth, base of fins (dorsal, pectoral, pelvic and anal fins). The post mortem findings were pale anemic liver in some cases and in other cases were hemorrhagic and congested. Kidneys and spleen were enlarged and congested. Intestine was inflamed, hemorrhagic and free from any food particles. The prevalence of bacterial isolates were, Aeromonas hyDROPhila ( 44.2 %), Pseudomonas fluorescens ( 18.3%) and Vibrio alginolyticus ( 37.5 %).ciprofloxacin and nalidixic acid were more effective antibiotic against A.hyDROPhila while ciprofloxacin and rifampicine were more effective antibiotic against Ps.fluorescens while V.alginolyticus isolates were sensitive to ciprofloxacin . A.hyDROPhila was pathogenic to Mugil capito. At 2X106 cells/ ml it cause 90% mortality when injected intra peritoneal. Ps.fluorescens was pathogenic to Mugil capito. At 3X106 cells/ ml it cause 80% mortality when injected intra peritoneal. V.alginolyticus was pathogenic to Mugil capito. At 107 cells/ ml it cause 100% mortality when injected intra peritoneal.
