Abstract
This study was designed to investigate the different characteristics of post stroke seizures as regard relation to stroke risk factors, clinical presentation, response to antiepileptic drugs, prognosis & effect on functional disability, electroencephalographic examination and computed tomography scanning in evaluating patients with post stroke seizures.The present study included 80 stroke patients who were divided into 2 groups: Group A comprising 40 patients with post stroke seizures and Group B comprising 40 stroke patients who passed at least 2 years from stroke onset without seizures.All patients in this study were subjected to the following 1- Thorough history taking.2- Through neurological examination.3- Routine laboratory investigation.4- Computed tomography (C.T) of the brain 5- Computerized electroencephalographic examination 6- Assessment of initial stroke severity by Scandinavian Stroke Scale (SSS 7- Assessment of functional disability by Modified Rankin Scale (MRS).
