Abstract

from the present study we can conclude the following:
1. Pediatric patients undergoing laparoscopic orchiopexy are exposed to many hemodynamic, ventilatory and neuroendocrine stress responses.
2. Anesthesia with either propofol TIVA or sevoflurane VIMA produces the same hemodynamic and ventilatory changes in pediatric patients undergoing laparoscopic orchiopexy.
3. CO2 pneumoperitoneum is accompanied by significant increase in MABP and no significant change in heart rate.
4. CO2 pneumoperitoneum during pediatric laparoscopy produces significant increase in PaCO2, decrease in PaO2, decrease in pH and increase in PAP.
5. CO2 pneumoperitoneum for pediatric laparoscopic orchiopexy is accompanied by neuroendocrine stress response represented by increase in epinephrine, norepinephrine, cortisol, ACTH and prolactin.
6. The type of anesthesia significantly affects the stress response with a more favorable metabolic and immune response during propofol anesthesia compared to sevoflurane anesthesia.
