Abstract The present work comprises a detailed mineralogical study of the area around umm runs gold mine. The studied area is covered mainly by a cycled gabbro-granodiorite intrusion which are intruded within a volcanogenic metasediments. Also. It is traversed by aplites, quartz veins and dyke swarms. The volcanogenic metasediments form the oldest rock unit of the area . Their degree of metamorphism varies between the green schist and amphibolites facies at the contact with the gabbro-granodiorite intrusion. Umm rus gabbros form an oval shaped pluton surrounding the main granodiorite mass. It shows a pronounced primary banding produced by alternation of melanocratic, and leucocratic bands of troctolite gabbro, oliving gabbro and anorthosite. The gabbroic mass includes a small lensoid body of Ti-rich gabbro, which is conformable with the banding structure. This body extends for some 100 m along strike, with an average width of 10 m. |
