Abstract The current study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of using enrichment activities in developing some critical listening skills for first year secondary superior students. Two classes were selected from two different secondary schools in Menoufia Governorate, in the second semester in the academic year 2009-2010. One class (N=30) served as the control group while, the other class (N=30) served as the experimental group. The experimental group was taught using the enrichment activities program whereas the control group was taught using the usual method. The study adopted the quasi-experimental pre-post control/experimental group design. The instruments of the study were the critical listening skills list and the critical listening skills test. After experimentation, both groups were tested using the pre-post critical listening skills test. Data were treated statistically, analyzed and discussed. The results of the study revealed that:- 1- The adopted enrichment activities program is more effective in developing overall critical listening than the usual method. 2- The adopted enrichment activities program is more effective in developing critical listening skills than the usual method. It was concluded that the current study provided an evidence for the effectiveness of using the adopted enrichment activities program in developing superior students’ critical listening skills and overall critical listening. |
