Abstract

Image processing has become such a critical component in contemporary
science and technology that many tasks would not be attempted without it
It is a truly used in many disciplines such as medical imaging, microscopy,
astronomy, geology and many other fields. The rapid and continuing progress in
computerized medical image reconstruction, and the associated developments
in analysis methods and computer-aided diagnosis, has propelled medical
imaging into one of the most important sub-fields in scientific imaging.
The analysis of breast image needs to determine its boundary and to
separate the pectoral muscle area in order to search for tumor inside the breast
region and to determine the state of the breast and its configuration.
The objective of this thesis is to determine the breast interface boundary and
its dimension and to detect the pectoral muscle to remove it from the breast
image. Mathematical modelling and analysis equations had been derived
to determine the Breast Border Boundaries (BBB) and Pectoral Muscle Region
(PMR). The analysis is based on studying of20 cases MIAS mammogram images.
The results obtained from the proposals were excellent, satisfactory, a paper
was published in international scientific conference ( ICMSC) in pectoral muscle
detection subject
