Abstract This study was made to provide information about the different lesions which affect the urinary system of equine species especially donkeys in Egypt. One hundred animals were used for this purpose. Histopathological examination on kidneys, ureters and urinary bladder and biochemical studies on serum had been made. A variety of lesions were observed in these organs. Renal cysts, proliferative glomerulonepheritis and interstitial nephritis were the most common observed lesions. The ureters and urinary bladder showed slight ureteritis and cystitis respectively. Kidney function tests showed increased potassium level in serum in relation to different urinary system lesions. The sodium level showed decrease in its level in all lesions. Total protein, urea, creatinine and chloride in serum were within normal level. |
