Abstract

Seventy-nine heads of clinically normal adult goats of both sexes were used to identify arteries supplying the caprine head, the general and then to further describe distribution of those arteries within the muscles of mastication, principal salivary glands and tongue. Latex injection, corrosion casting and radiographic preparations and tissue clearing procedures were employed. The head of the goat receives its main arterial blood supply from the common carotid artery and its terminal branches. The arterial supply of the muscles of the mastication, principal salivary gland and tongue were demonstrated.
