Abstract It is aimed from this work to determine the prevalence and characteristics of Group B Streptococci in bovine udder and vagina of women and raise a question, is S. agalactiae a zoonotic agent? Examination of 156 quarter milk samples from apparently healthy animals (96 from buffaloes and 60 from cows), in addition to 8 buffaloes quarter milk samples from clinically mastitic animals. Results revealed that the prevalence of S.agalactiae was 25.96% (27) in buffaloes quarter milk samples and could be not isolated from cows quarter milk samples. In human ”..the prevalence of Siagalactiae was 13.88% (10) of 72 vaginal swabs examined samples. The effect of pasteurization, antibiotics and identification by peR and RAPD on selected isolates were done, diversity and heterogenicity of S. agalactiae were illustrated and discussed. |
