Abstract

In this investigation in order to highlight the most common bacterial flora present in the upper respiratory tract of rabbits a total of (375) samples were taken in the form of nasal and pharyngeal swabs from apparently healthy and diseased rabbits. M. pulmonis, B. bronchiseptica, P. multocida, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, S. epidermidis, P. mirabilis, K. pneumoniae, E. aerogenes, E. coli and Bacillus species were isolated. Serotyping of the E. coli isolates recovered from the upper respiratory tract of the examined rabbits was done. Antibiotic sensitivity test was done to some isolates and revealed that neomycin and chloramphenicol were the drugs of choice for the examined isolates. Characterization and differentiation of 4 P. multocida isolates collected from apparently healthy and diseased rabbits using RAPD-PCR assay, was studied and the results were discussed
