Abstract Study on the effects of repeated exposure to deltamethrin on the blood picture, certain serum biochemical constituents, bone marrow, semen picture, histopathological alterations, deltamethrin residues and genotoxic effect in male albino rat were conducted by Venees Farouk Yassa. Thesis for Ph.D. degree (Clinical Pathology) Fac. Vet. Med., Cairo University. This study revealed that the oral the LDsoof deltamethrin was 26.61 mg / kg b.wt .. Repeated oral administertion of deltamethrin (0.26 mg/kg b.wt.) twice weekly for 180 days resulted in decrease in RBCs count, Hb concentration, leukocytosis, neutrophilia, lymphocytosis and increase in MIE ratio. Significant elevation in AL T and AST activities, cholesterol and urea level. Hyperglycemia followed by hypo glycemia together with a reduction in testosterone hormone was detected at the end of the experiment. ,. Semen analysis revealed significant decrease in the sperm cell concentration, motility percent, together with increase in the percentage of abnormal and dead sperms. Deltamethrin residue was found in the kidney, liver, muscle and testes. Furthermore, deltamethrin induce histopathological alteration in the liver, kidney and testes. In addition to these findings deltamethrin induce significant increase in the structural chromosomal aberration after 24h. of the first exposure. |
