Abstract The results showed that after oral administration of enrofloxacin in normal healthy rabbits, its pharmacokinetic profile characterized by rapid oral absorption, large volume of distribution, prolonged elimination half live and low tissue residues. The results also revealed that the experimental infection of rabbits by Pasteurella multocida microorganisms induced positive changes in the pharmacokinetic properties of enrofloxacin. Therefore, this study recommends that the changes in pharmacokinetic profile of enrofloxacin should be taken in consideration during its clinical use for the treatment of pasteurellosis in rabbits. |
