Abstract 162 serum samples (90 sera of local cattle and 72 sera of imported ones) were examined serologically for determination Chlamydophila psittaci antibodies using c.r.T. and ELISA. The results of the serum samples of local cattle were 57(63.4%) and 46(51.1 %) positive in C.F.T. and ELISA, respectively. The results of the serum samples or imported cattle were 54(75%) and 45(62.5%) positive in c.r.T. and ELlSA. respectively. Chlamydophila psittaci antigen was detected in 42(71 %) and 38(64.5%) or 59 Iccal samples, in 12(63.2%) and 10 (52.6%) of 19 vaginal samples and detected in 11 (52.4%) and 10 (47.6%) of ocular samples using c.r.T. and ELISA. respectively. Chlamydopltila psittaci was isolated from 34(57.7%) of 59 fecal samples, 8 (42.2%) out of 19 vaginal samples and isolated from 7(33.6%) of 21 ocular samples through inoculation of 7 -day old ECE via yolk sac route inoculation. |
