Abstract These animals were subjected to thorough clinical investigation , serum biochemical panel , postmortem , cytological , histopathological evaluation and ultrasographic examinationThe present study classified these animals into clinical cases of hepatopathies and exprimentally drug - induced hepatopathies (carbon tetrachloride hepatotoxicity and paracetamol - induced fulminant hepatitis) Clinical investigations revealed panorama of clinical signs (weight loss , vomiting , diarrhea , icterus , lethargy , nervous signs , ascites , hemorrhagic diathesis) Ultrasographic examination displayed focal and diffuse hyperechogenicity in different cases and some clinical cases of hypoechogenicitySerum biochemical panel showed marked elevation of transaminases , alkaline phosphatase , GGT , bilirubin (total and direct) There was a decrease in albumin and total protein in some casesPostmortem , cytological histopathological evaluation demonstrated exaggerated inflammatory and degenerative changesThe present study verified the role of ultrasonography in diagnosis of hepatobiliary diseases. |
