Abstract

• This study revealed presence of sexual problems
affecting addict’ marital life.
So it is important to involve the addict’s wives in the
plan of management of their husbands to interfere with
psychiatric morbidity if present, to improve the outcome,
and to teach them about the nature substance use disorder
and how to deal with it.
Finally, we can conclude that the spouse of substance
users are experiencing burden related to the illness of their
husbands, their children were suffering from domestic
violence, which in turn affects their quality of life.
So it is important to involve the addict’s wives in the
plan of management of their husbands to interfere with
psychiatric morbidity if present, to improve the outcome,
and to teach them about the nature substance use disorder
and how to deal with it.
By the end of the study, we can come up with the
following conclusion:
There have been evidence that support the hypothesis of
the study that the spouse of substance users are
experiencing burden related to the illness of their
husbands, and consequently the duration of the illness
lengthens, the burden will increase. Therefore a negative
impact on their life is expected affecting their quality of life
and well-being which may be associated with psychiatric
morbidity.
