Abstract

This work aimed to evaluate the effects of substituting 10, 20, and
30 % of concentrate mixture by using olive pulp cake in feeding lactating
buffaloes and its effect on digestibility of nutrients, nutritive values, some
ruminal and blood parameters as well as on milk production and its
composition.
The results obtained from the analysis of the data can be
summarized as follows:
1. Values for In – vitro dry matter digestibility of replacing 10, 20, and
30% of the concentrate mixture by olive pulp cake were 55.80%
,55.0% and 41.80% IVDMD respectively .
2. Proximate chemical analysis of olive pulp cake showed that it had
higher values of OM, EE and CF than concentrate mixture being
97.00% vs. 93.95% : 6.32% vs2.80% and 21.54 % vs. 11.46%
respectively . However DM, CP,NFE and ash content of olive cake
pulp were lower than concentrate mixture being 88.03% vs. 90.12% ;
6.44% vs. 16.07% ; 62.70% vs. 63.62% and 3.00% vs. 6.05%
respectively .
3. The ration T1 had higher DM, CP and NFE than T2, T3, and T4
because of the higher moisture and ether extract in olive pulp cake
Also ration T2 had higher DM, CP, and ash than ration 3 and 4
because of the lower content of olive pulp cake (10%) in ration T2
compared with rations 3 and 4 . Also, ration 4 had lower CP than
rations 2 and 3; this is mainly due to higher content of olive pulp
cake (30%).
