Abstract Microalgae are playing a very’ important role as live food for fish and shrimp larvae in marine hatcheries. Rotifers are valuable live-food for the aquaculture of larval fish and crustaceans, specifically; Brachiomis plicatilis is routinely used in marine aquaculture, being fed to more than 60 marine finfish and 18 crustaceans’ species. In this study: three diatom species: Skeletonema costatnm (2-5 urn). Chaetoceros calcitrans (2-3 iim) and Detomilla confer vace a (6-15 j-im) were isolated from the Eastern Harbor of Alexandria, Egypt, Scanning electron microscope was used to support the identification process of the isolated diatom species. Effects of salinity, temperature, illumination and culture medium on growth rate and time required for cell doubling for the three isolated diatom species, as well as, for the three collected green microalgae species: Nannochloropsis oculata (2-5 Lim), Ten’aselmis suecica (6-10 Lim) and DtinalieUa salma (8-12 .um), were conducted. The optimum significant growth of S. costatnm was achieved at 35 ppt, 20-25°C. 750 lux/24h. f/2 standard vitamin content with increasing of F/2silicate content upto Tri-fold. D. confervacea was achieved at 30-35 ppt, 20-25°C, 750 lux/24h and F/2 standard vitamin with increasing of F/2vitamin content upto Tri-fold. C. calcitrans was achieved at 25-30 ppt, 25°C, 750:300 lux / 6:24h and increasing of F/2 vitamin and silicate content upto Tri-fold. N. oculata was achieved at 20-35 ppt. 25-30°C. 750:300 lux / 6:24h and increasing of F/2 vitamin content upto Di-fold. ’/.’. suecica was achieved at 30-35 ppt. 15-25°C. 750 lux / 24h and. increasing of F/2 vitamin content upto Di-fold. Finally. D. salina was achieved at 30 ppt, 15°C, 1500 lux / 24h and increasing of F/2 vitamin content upto Di-fold. Mass culture in outdoor tanks for the six experimented species was conducted at high temperature (27-34°C) in summer season. |
