Abstract

Transmitral flow velocity patterns obtained by pulsed Doppler echocardiography are widely used to non invasively evaluate LV diastolic function. In many circumstances, however, the interpretation of these indices is difficult because they respond to different physiological variables other than ventricular relaxation such as heart rate, and most importantly loading conditions.
Recently, tissue Doppler imaging has emerged as a new non invasive imaging modality that allows direct measurement of myocardial velocities throughout the cardiac cycle. The aim of this study is to evaluate LV diastolic function through assessing the velocity of mitral annulus motion during diastole by tissue Doppler imaging
In this study ,60 patients in different age groups with history of type II diabetes mellitus were classified according to the age into the following
Group A :it include 15 patients in their thirties
Group B :it include 15 patients in their forties
Group C :it include 15 patients in their fifties
Group D :it include 15 patients in their sixties
