Abstract Female genital mutilation FGM is a deeply rooted tradition practice. However, it is a form of violence against girls and women. This research is descriptive study having two main aims; 1) Assessing the knowledge of women toward FGM and 2) Assessing the attitude of women toward FGM. The researcher collected data from 181 women attending the primary health care centers using interviewing questionnaire. The study indicated that, there were many determinants for this habits traditional, social habit, religion. It was reported that, the majority of women who had positive attitude were working. A significant relationship found between the history of circumcision and the women’s attitude. The study reveals that the majority of the circumcised women had positive attitude towards FGM. It was found that, the medical complications and painful experience were common reasons for discontinuation FGM, so that recommended with developing |
