Abstract The present study was carried out on V – line rabbits in rabbit unit belongs poultry farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Fayoum University. The period of experiment started in January, 2009 and lasted in July 2009 the study included three experiments. The aim to this study improve reproductive efficiency of rabbit does using hormonal, nutritional or acetic acid intra-vaginal washing treatments. Three experiments were carried out: Prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α), Selenium supplementation sources and acetic acid intra-vaginal washing. Experiment 1: A total number of 48 does V line rabbits were lower reproductive performance which was represented by a small litter size (less than 5 kits per litter at birth), low conception rate (less than 50%) and female refusal to be mated by males. Females were randomly allotted into three groups. The first and the second groups were considered as control groups. Group 1; each doe was left without treatment. Group 2; each doe was injected intramuscularly with 1 ml saline solution (0.9% NaCl). Group 3; each doe was injected intramuscularly with 62.5 μg Cloprostenol prostaglandin synthetic analogue PGF2α (0.25 m1 stroPLAN; Parnell Laboratories (Aust) PTY.LTD.) - Experiment 2: A total number of 48 does V line rabbits were randomly allotted into three groups. The first and the second groups were considered as control groups. Group 1; the does were left without treatment. Group 2; each doe was injected intra-Vagina with 1 ml saline solution (0.9% NaCl). Group 3; each doe was injected intra Vagina with acetic acid (1%). Intra-vagina injection done by injection 1 cm acetic acid 1% by used insulin syringe without a needle. Does were allowed to kindle for two parities consecutively Directly natural mating by fertile bucks was after treated. Experiment 3: A total number of 40 does V line rabbits were divided randomly into four treatment groups (10 does for each) which offered non-supplemented diet or supplemented diet with, organic selenium (Sel-Plex 150 gm /ton diet), Alltech, Inc. Nicholasville, KY), inorganic selenium (Sodium Selenite 0.36 gm/ton diet) and (0.18 gm sodium Selenite + 75 gm Sel-Plex/ ton diet) mixed in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th groups, respectively. Each group was divided randomly into three replicates (3, 3 and 4 females). |
