Abstract The previous theoretical analysis presented in this shows to ccurataly describe the behaviour of rectangular orthotropic plates under combined loading of shear and compression which have stable postbuckling behaviour the results of the analysis was directed for obtaining a design approach for stiffened panels with compact and closely spaced stiffeners hence , necessary design curves were generated which cover a wide range of such panels some design examples were given and the results for ultimate panel strength were compared with the design formula adopted in the british code the results presented herein lead to the following conclusions 1- for a given value of initial imperfection The strength of a stiffened panel depends on the primary 2-increase in (b/t) cause decreases in stiffened panel strength whereas an increase in D will cause a noticeable increase in the strength at low (b/t). |
