Abstract The study is an intervention study aiming to study the effect of implementing an educational intervention for university females’ adolescents regarding premarital examination and counseling. The study was carried out on 206 university females’ adolescent at the students’ university hostel, Port Said City. Data were collected through a constructed interview questionnaire sheet including three parts, the flrst part to collect data about general characteristics of the study sample, family medical history, menstrual history and the media at home. The second part for assessing the study sample’s knowledge regarding premarital examination, counseling and reproductive health. Also, the third part for assessing their attitudes toward premarital examination and counseling and reproductive health. The study sample was divided into two groups (intervention group and self- learning group). The study revealed that the majority of the study sample had unsatisfactory knowledge and negative attitude toward premarital examination and counseling and reproductive health in pre-program period and their knowledge and attitude in post and follow up period were improved. Also, in pre-program no one performed premarital examination and counseling services while in post and follow up period 50 students of the study san1ple from the two groups performed this service. There were statistically significant differences between their knowledge and attitudes throughout the educational program. Also, statistically significant differences between knowledge, attitudes and some of general characteristics, media at home and source of information. The study recommended that improve the knowledge of University Students about premarital counselihg and examination; modify the current and available services and efforts for raising the community awareness about the important of its utilization. |
