Abstract The aim of the present study was to assess IgG and IgE to bedbug (Cimex lectularius) in patients with papular urticaria. Immunoblotting was done using the insects’ salivary gland extracts and sera of papular urticaria patients (group I), siblings of matched age but without papular urticaria (group IIa), parents of each patient (group IIb) and healthy controls (group III). Anti- Cimex lectularius IgG was significantly recognized at 66 and 10 kDa in group I, besides others ranging from 107 to 45 kDa. Some sera of group IIb reacted with 21 and 8.5 kDa. Some sera of group IIb and all group III significantly identified a band of 12.5 kDa. IgE response was non specific. It could be concluded that IgG is present against Cimex lectularius in papular urticaria and may contribute to its pathogenesis. |
