Abstract

Selenium is a trace mineral that is essential to good health but required only in small amounts. Selenium is incorporated into proteins to make selenoproteins, which are important antioxidant enzymes. Compared to other nuts, cashews have a lower overall fat content. The majority of fat found in cashews is unsaturated fatty acid, or the good fat. This study was carried out using 1, 5 and 10 mg selenium, and 183.8. 919 and 1838 gm cashew which equal 1,5 and 10 mg selenium and studied their effects on the liver, kidney functions, body weight, food intake , blood lipid profile, blood glucose and hemoglobin of rats .
