Abstract

The Instrumentation and Process Control Fundamental was developed to assist the Petroleum industry facility in the operation and provide operators, maintenance personnel and the technical staff with the necessary fundamentals to ensure a basic understanding of instrumentation and control systems.
This thesis includes information on pressure, temperature, flow, and level detection systems; it will provide personnel with an understanding of the basic operation of various types of instrumentation and control systems.
The aim of this thesis to present enough information on the instrumentation and process control and to achieve the safe production, lowest cost of process, improving product quality, lowering labor costs, reducing or eliminating human error, reducing energy consumption, elimination of product giveaway, products off-spec and to provide the reader with enough fundamental knowledge level to understand the advanced theoretical concepts and basic system and equipment operations.
Instrumentation for today industrial normally are equipped with a Digital Control System (DCS) or Programmable logic Control System (PLC) that provides advanced control capabilities and interfaces to other systems, including management information and accounting systems and read-only interface to protective systems.
