Abstract Enass Nabil Mohamed Eissa: Effect of Iron and Manganese on Productivity and Quality of Strawberry Grown in Water Culture. Unpublished M.Sc. Thesis, Arid Land Agricultural Graduate Studies and Research Institute, Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, 2010. br The experiment was carried out at experimental site of Arid Land Agricultural graduate studies and Research Institute (ALARI), Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, at Shobra El-Khema, Qalyobia governorate during two successive seasons of 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 by using Fresh bare rooted strawberry (Fragaria X Ananasa) plantlets cv. Sweet charlie. br The aim of the experiment was to overcome the problem of Mn and Fe deficiency in strawberry plants grown in water culture by find a suitable method for supplying these micro nutrients to the plants through increasing these nutrient elements in the nutrient solution to be uptake by roots or by spraying them on the leaves to evaluate the better way for applying these nutrient elements. In -#111;-#114;-#100;-#101;-#114; to increase the productivity and fruit quality of strawberry which will increase the export leading to more net profit to give the strawberry producer the best package for producing high quality of strawberry. br The Electrical Conductivity (EC) was adjusted at the range of 2.0-2.5 m.mhos-2 and pH was maintained at the range of 5.5-6.0 through out the experimental time. br The experiment includes eight treatments as follow: br 1. Normal nutrient solution ( El-behairy, 1994 ) (control) br 2. Normal nutrunt solution ( El-behairy, 1994 ) + Spraying with micro nutrient on the leaves ( weekly ) br 3. Mn concentration at 2 ppm with Fe concentration 3 ppm in the nutrient solution br 4. Mn concentration at 2 ppm with Fe concentration 3 ppm in the nutrient solution + Spraying with micro nutrient on the leaves (weekly) br 5. Fe concentration at 6 ppm with Mn concentration 1 ppm in the nutrient solution br 6. Fe concentration at 6 ppm with Mn concentration 1 ppm in the nutrient solution + Spraying with micro nutrient on the leaves (weekly) br 7. Mn concentration at 2 ppm and Fe concentration 6 ppm in the nutrient solution br 8. Mn concentration at 2 ppm and Fe concentration 6 ppm in the nutrient solution + Spraying with micro nutrient on the leaves (weekly) br The obtained results indicated that using Fe concentration at 6 ppm compined with Mn concentration 1 ppm in the nutrient solution gave the highest number of leaves, total yield and exportable yield compared to the other treatment. Concerning fruit TSS, using Fe concentration at 6 ppm compined with Mn concentration 1 ppm in the nutrient solution plus spraying with micro nutrient on the leaves at weekly intervals gave the highest values compared to the other treatments. Concerning Fruit firmness, control plus spraying with micro nutrient on the leaves treatment gave the highest values compared to the other treatments. br Key Words: br Soilless culture, Nutrient Solution, Iron, Manganese, Strawberry, Fruit quality |
