Abstract It was reported that about 50% of patients with congestive heart failure had preserved ejection fraction, and left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) was considered as the principal pathophysiologic mechanism of this disorder (Yi Zhang et al., 2010). Left ventricular dysfunction in patients with coronary artery disease is not always an irreversible process related to previous myocardial infarction, since left ventricular function improves substantially in many patients and may even normalize after revascularisation (Robert O. Bonow et al., 2011). Bonow RO et al showed that the presence of viable myocardium was associated with a greater likelihood of survival in patients with coronary artery disease and left ventricular dysfunction. The aim of this study is to assess sensitivity and specificity of the mitral inflow patterns in predicting non-viable myocardium in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM). This study included 100 patients came to Ain Shams University Hospitals with ischemic cardiomyopathy for viability study using low dose dobutamine stress test within the period between April 2010 and February 2011. |
