Abstract Depression is a major public health problem that increased dramatically in the past forty to fifty years and causes severe distress and dysfunction for the individuals, families and society. As well, it has social and economical implications. This study aimed to study the association between childhood negative experiences, stressful life events, and depression among depressed patients. The study setting was in psychiatric outpatient, clinics ofEL-Mabara hospital, EL-Naser hospital in Port-Said and University hospital in lsmalia on a total sample of 320 subjects equally divided into two groups, group I consisted of 160 depressed patients and group II consisted of 160 subjects. Results revealed that, statistically positive correlation between childhood negative experiences and stressful life events and depression in depressed patients and control subjects. |
