Abstract

The cost and quality of transport and logistics services are increasingly relevant for the participation of developing countries in the nation’s economy. For today’s requirements, traditional transport services at seaports are often insufficient. More complete logistics services are needed today, involving the use of IT and EDI systems which have a service provider assuming responsibility for the entire transport chain. Port-Said port, which ranked of on the third position among the Mediterranean Sea seaports of top 10 Growth, faced the same problems of insufficient logistics services. Thinking for changing this, depends on other Egyptian seaports trials such as in Sokhna and Damietta ports. The present study aims to follow the transactions procedures needed to finish the import, export, and transit transactions at Port Said port including the circle of documentations in all entities involved in the process in order to fix the problems of huge numbers of signatures and steps from the arrival of ships to departure. It gives the definition of Trade facilitation that focuses on creating efficiency and reducing costs across the entire trade transaction process. Efficient trade procedures allow goods to travel to customers cheaply, quickly and safely. Also, it takes account of the assessment of the proposed IT project at Port Said port by using Cost-Benefits analysis.
