The purpose of this research is, to study causes of fire accidents, to evaluate the underwriting activity level in fire insurance branch, and to examine whether links between fire causes and underwriting activity exists. This research consists of four chapters, the first chapter ,“fire insurance underwriting ”reviews previous studies, defines the concept of fire insurance underwriting, the process of fire risk selection, and evaluates underwriting activity in the fire insurance branch. The second chapter: “Causes of fire accidents” examines material and personal causes of fire accidents, and analyzes fire accidents causes in The Arab Republic of Egypt, The third chapter is “an analytical study of causes of fire accidents”. it investigates the causes of fire accidents in terms of frequency, losses, and insured event. The fourth chapter “The impact of fire causes on underwriting in fire insurance, an empirical study”, explores and evaluates fire safety measures and procedures. The study attributes failure to the fire risk selection process, which has led to high losses rate, high compensations and profits DROP in the branch.
