Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a dangerous disease not because of its acute derangements of the body chemistry which may lead to total acidosis and coma, but also because it predisposes the development of several abnormalities and major complications such as small and large vessels diseases, eye disease, skin complication and nephropathy.
morever, diabetes mellitus has a marked impact on the well being of individuals, groups and communities.
The study aims to ossess the public understanding of preventive and theraputic management of diabetes mellitus.
This study was conducted at diabetic out patient, clinic at El-Shamlah hospital. Two samples were included in the study. The first sample of 100 diabetic patients, comprised the sample of the study. The second sample was o\f 100 control group. A structure questionnaire was designed to cover the required data of the study. It included five parts, biosocial characteristics of the studied subject.
