Abstract
Since PPV has been well established the discussion whether to indicate SB or PPV for RRD remains. There is some agreement by vitreous surgeons that in the face of simple cases of RRD ( l hole ,or those with early PVR or without PVR ),PPV is avoided due to its high rate of complications and SB should be performed, it’s also important to mention that SB still has a high attachment rate for those simple cases and higher complication occur by PPV including cataract, secondary glaucoma, but in other cases with complicated RRD including higher grade of PVR , GRT, posterior breaks, multiple breaks, and undetectable breaks primary PPV should be performed .
