المستخلص

Achieving sustainable architecture of residential buildings in Egypt requires a strategy to encourage and regulate the using of solar energy (SE).
To achieve this strategy some steps are followed : firstly, studying eergy consumption in residential sector, the techniques of renewable energy (RE) and its role in achieving sustainability, and studying the sustainability, its rating systems and determining constraints that prevent the contribution of RE in achieving sustainability of residential buildings. In addition to studying the solar energy - as one of the most important source of RE to achieve residential buildings that produce energy – and the aspects affected on it’s performance, it’s suitable techniques to applicate in residential building, it’s installation’s methods and it’s effect on the form and design of the building which leads to appear new architecture trends. Also studying the incentive policies, legislation and building codes of leader countries in the field of encouraging the using of SE.
